Kolkata, February 17: Gaurika Bishnoi carded one under 71 on the final day to clinch her maiden title in the third leg of the Hero Women’s Professional Golf Tour at the Royal Calcutta Golf Club on Friday. Finishing in second position was Saaniya Sharma with a total score of 222. The INR 6,00,000 event culminated today.
Gurgaon’s Gaurika Bishnoi carded birdies on the 4th and 9th holes while dropping a shot on the 5th in her front nine. She played with caution in the latter half, carding a birdie and a bogey on the 14th and 17th holes respectively to total 218 after three rounds and claim her maiden title since turning professional.
Chandigarh’s Saaniya Sharma (69) took the runners up position.
New Delhi’s Mehar Atwal and Bengaluru’s Trisha Sunil were tied third with identical scores of 228 after the third round.
Neha Tripathi had a birdie less round. She finished fifth position with a total score of 229 and was followed by Kolkata’s Smriti Mehra in sixth position with a score of 231 and Kapurthala’s Gursimar Badwal in seventh with a total score of 232 after 54 holes.
The Tour now moves to the Tollygunge Club for the 4th Leg of the season to be played from 20th to 23rd February 2017.
Trisha wrests lead on Day 2
Kolkata, February 16: Trisha Sunil carded the only sub par round of three under 69 to grab the lead on the second day of the 3rd leg of the Hero Women’s Professional Golf Tour at The Royal Calcutta Golf Club here on Thursday. Trailing her by two shots is Gurgaon’s Gaurika Bishnoi, placed second with a total of 147.
Trisha had one bogey and one birdie on front nine and then dropped a shot on 10th, but had four birdies on the 12th, 14th, 16th and 17th to finish the second round with a total score of 145.
Overnight leader Gaurika Bishnoi shot two over 74 and Kolkata’s Smriti Mehra too recorded a similar score in the second round to take the third place.
Neha Tripathi was fourth at 150 after 36 holes, while Sharmila Nicollet was placed fifth with a total score of 151.
New Delhi’s Mehar Atwal, Chandigarh’s Saaniya Sharma and Kapurthala’s Gursimar Badwal are all tied sixth with a total score of 153.

Neha Tripathi eyes second title in Kolkata
Kolkata, February 14: Having won her first title in the first leg, Kolkata’s Neha Tripathi will start as a firm favourite in the third leg of the Hero Women’s Professional Golf Tour 2017 at the Royal Calcutta Golf Club, Kolkata.
Neha Tripathi is currently placed second in the Hero Order of Merit with total earnings of INR 2,10,000. She has one win in two appearances and a win here will help her overtake Amandeep Drall and secure her position atop the money list. Another strong contender for the title is Smriti Mehra. She has been close to winning in the last two events and will be keen to register her first win here. She is currently placed third in the Hero Order of Merit with total earnings of INR 2,04,000.
