Gurgaon, March 3: Amandeep Drall carded an even par round on the third day to win her second title of the season in the INR 8,00,000 fifth leg of the Hero Women’s Professional Golf Tour 2017 at the Classic Golf & Country Club. She shot 72 and totaled 211 and won by three shots over Thai professional Walailak Satarak who had a total score of 214.
Panchkula’s Drall started her round with a bogey on the very first hole. She went on to drop another on the 7th hole, but with the help of birdies on the 8th and 9th she was able to finish with an even par front nine. On the return, she played with much more caution and carded birdie and a bogey apiece on the 13th and 18th holes, to finish at 211.
Walailak Satarak carded her lone birdie on her way out, on the 4th hole, while dropping shots on the 2nd and 5th. In her back nine, she carded birdies on the 10th and 14th while dropping shots on the 13th and 17th, to finish her round with a score of one over 73.
Gurgaon’s Gaurika Bishnoi and New Delhi’s Vani Kapoor were tied second with identical scores of 215.
Sharmila Nicollet started impressively, carding a bogey free front nine with birdies on the 1st, 4th and 5th holes, however, she could not sustain her momentum and carded bogeys on the 12th and 13th with a birdie on the 14th to finish in fifth position with a score of two under for the day and level par after 54 holes.
She was followed by Jaipur’s Afshan Fatima in sixth position with a total score of 221. Ankita Tiwana, Gursimar Badwal and amateur Gurjot Badwal were all tied seventh with identical scores of 225, followed by amateur Tvesa Malik in tenth position with a score of 226.
After a short break the Tour will move to Poona Club Golf Course for the 6th leg of the Tour.
Round 2 - Amandeep fires 4 under to grab lead
Gurgaon, March 2: Amandeep Drall carded an impressive round of four under 68 to take the sole lead on day two of the 5th leg of the Hero Women’s Professional Golf Tour 2017 at the Classic Golf & Country Club here on Thursday.
Trailing her in tied second position are Walailak Satarak, Vani Kapoor and Gaurika Bishnoi with identical scores of 141 after 36 holes.
Panchkula’s Amandeep Drall faltered on the very first hole. She went on to card another bogey on the 8th hole, but birdies on the 3rd, 4th and 9th helped her neutralise the damage in her front nine. She got better as the day progressed and played a bogey free back nine, carding birdies on the 10th, 15th and 17th holes to finish with a total score of four under for the day and a total of 139.
With four players at sub par totals after two days, the final day is all set to showcase some keen golfing action.
Round 1 -Gaurika Bishnoi holds fort on Day 1
Gurgaon, March 1: Gaurika Bishnoi carded three under 69 to take the lead on the first day of the 5th leg of the Hero Women’s Professional Golf tour 2017 at the Classic Golf & Country Club, here on Wednesday. Trailing her in second position with identical scores of one under 71 are Amandeep Drall and Vani Kapoor.
Local girl Gaurika Bishnoi had a shaky start, carding a bogey on the 2nd hole. However, she bounced back with an eagle on the 4th and a birdie on the 8th on her way out. In her back nine, she carded birdies on the 10th, 16th and 17th holes while dropping shots on the 11th and 13th to finish with a score of three under 69.
Panchkula’s Amandeep Drall and New Delhi’s Vani Kapoor were tied second with identical scores of one under 71 after 18 holes.
Vani eyes her second title
Gurgaon, February 28: The 5th leg of the Hero Women’s Professional Golf Tour 2017 gets underway at the Classic Golf & Country Club, Gurgaon tomorrow. The field comprises of 23 players which includes 3 professionals from overseas. This is unprecedented in the domestic Tour.
Having won her first title in her first appearance in the last event, Vani Kapoor will look to add another title to her tally. New Delhi’s Vani Kapoor, who showed us a glimpse of her immense talent in the previous event, will start as firm favourite in the fifth leg. Due to her overseas commitments, she is currently placed ninth in the Hero Order of Merit with total earning of 1,40,000 in one appearance, but this can change very quickly. She will however, be up against a very strong field, and will face a stiff challenge from the likes of Amandeep Drall, Gaurika Bishnoi and Smriti Mehra.
Panchkula’s Amandeep Drall, who has posted one win in three appearances with one runners up finish, is currently occupying the first position on the money list with earnings of INR 3,51,000.
